Perinthalmanna was the capital city of Valluvanad, a princely state ruled by the Valluvakonathiris. It is an important municipal town in Malapuram district and was known as the centre of trading activities. The birth place of veteran communist leader late EMS Namboodiripad, Elamkulam, is close to Perinthalmanna. The first High school, first court and first Taluk office of the Malabar area were set up in Perinthalmanna by the East India Company.
- Cherumb Eco Village: It is a park in Malappuram District, situated nearby to Turf Court and Karuvarakund Juma Masjid. It includes a bridge over the river, with beautiful parks, boating, lounges, suspension bridges and playgrounds on both sides.
- Keralamkundu Waterfalls : Located 1,500 feet above sea level in a small village called Karuvarakkundu, Keralamkundu Waterfalls is a sought-after destination in the district. From about 1500 feet above sea level, the water comes down over 150 feet of a rocky cliff into a vast pool.
- Kodikuthimala: Located 10 km from Perinthalmanna town, Kodikuthimala is the highest point in the Amminikandan range of hills. It is also known as the Ooty of Malappuram.
- Kottakunnu Amusement Part: It is situated in the heart of Malappuram district. There are lots of fun in this park. A Water theme park is also situated inside this park. Recently this park was regenerated by including so many rides and activities.
- Poonthanam Illam: It is situated in Kizhattoor, near Perinthalmanna, Malappuram district, Kerala. It is on the Perinthalmanna – Nilamboor route. This is the house of Poonthanam Namboothiri, an exponent of the Krishna cult of the Bhakthi movement, known for his work, Janappana (song of knowledge).
- The most important and famous temples are the Thirumandhamkunnu Bhagavathy Temple and Angadipuram Thali Temple. The "Manglya Pooja" at Thirumandhamkunnu temple is very famous amongst the Hindus . A number of mosques and churches for other communities are also located in this area.
